Why Did Your Company Choose the OKR Framework?

Dave Lefrançois, “The decision to adopt the OKR framework was driven by our company’s desire to continue to deliver on our mission to bring our customers’s products to market faster than ever. Our vision centers on accelerating the development and time to market for our customers and enhancing the efficiency of all our operations, including their internal and external resources. This strategic direction for the coming years is why we chose to implement the OKR strategy, utilizing a tool like Profit.co to ensure the successful execution of our ambitious vision.”

As TIBO evolved, what specific challenges did you identify that led you to consider OKRs as a solution?

Dave Lefrançois explained, “Having a global team with employees stationed from Canada to China, Malaysia, Lebanon, Mexico, and potentially India soon, means that communication has to be stellar. This geographical dispersion gave TIBO an edge in optimizing the use of different time zones. Indeed, we have been successful in setting up processes and tools for day-to-day operations and efficient communication, but now, what we aim for is excelling in regard to strategic alignment and, therefore, corporate execution in our execution.”

He added, “Since 2018, we’ve been quite diligent with our strategic planning, utilizing a range of internal tools for tracking and execution—Excel spreadsheets, documents, and custom agendas. However, as our pace intensified and our ambition to execute grew, I, as the owner, realized the need for an upgrade.” He said, “The aim was to find a more robust, user-friendly system that could make strategic planning engaging and ensure more precise, strong execution of our plans amid the daily whirlwind of tasks.

Our initial search wasn’t specifically for OKRs, but upon learning about them, it clicked. Dave Lefrançois shared insights, “Initially, TIBO wasn’t specifically searching for an OKR tool; their focus was on general project management solutions like Monday.com, among others. However, these tools didn’t align perfectly with our strategic planning and execution needs. He added, “Our IT manager, Alexandre, who is responsible for IT here—and you have to know, we develop our software as well—so we know how challenging it is to do these kinds of things. Alex was just amazed how you guys were able to meet our demands and how you could be so agile and make your tool better for us, but probably better for even other people because you listen to the feedback we give you.”
