What Does the Logs Audit Trail Contain?
In Profit.co, the Logs audit trail is the record shown on a project. It lists the key actions taken on that project and its milestones, with the most recent action at the top.
Each entry has three parts: the user who acted, a short description of the action, and the date and time it happened.
Note
The panel is labeled Logs on the project, and it records project and portfolio events as well as milestone events, not milestones alone.
Why Does the Logs Audit Trail Matter?
When someone removes a milestone or changes a portfolio link, the Logs show which user did it and at what time. You can answer who did this and when from the record itself, instead of reconstructing it from memory or chat.
Because every entry ties an action to a person and a timestamp, the trail gives the project a built-in accountability record.
How Does the Logs Audit Trail Work?
The Logs update as work happens on the project. Whenever a recorded action is performed, Profit.co adds an entry to the trail.
Each new entry appears at the top with the user's name, the action, and its date and time, so the most recent change is always first. You review the trail in the Logs panel on the project.
What Actions Does the Logs Audit Trail Record?
| Scenario | What Happens |
|---|---|
| You create a milestone in the project. | Profit.co adds a Logs entry naming you, the created milestone, and the date and time. |
| You delete a milestone. | Profit.co adds a Logs entry naming you, the deleted milestone, and the date and time. |
| You create the project. | Profit.co adds a Logs entry naming you, the new project, and the date and time. |
| You link the project to a portfolio. | Profit.co adds a Logs entry naming you, the portfolio, and the date and time. |
What Are the Best Practices for Using the Logs Audit Trail?
- Check the Logs before asking a teammate what happened to a milestone, since each entry already names the person who acted and the exact time.
- Use the date and time on each entry to order events precisely when several changes land on the same day, since the newest entry sits at the top.
- Read the full action text, not just the item name, because the trail distinguishes similar actions such as creating versus deleting a milestone.
- When a milestone shows as deleted, check the entry's user and time to confirm the removal was intended before you recreate it.
