What Are Portfolio Roadmaps?
A Portfolio Roadmap is the top-level container in the PPM module. Each roadmap has its own roadmap name and visibility setting, and it holds portfolios, which in turn hold sub-portfolios and projects.

A portfolio is not locked to a single roadmap. You can associate a portfolio that already exists in your organization with additional roadmaps instead of creating it again.

Portfolio Roadmaps belong to the PPM module and are separate from the Strategy Roadmaps app, which organizes themes, sub-themes, and initiatives.
Why Do Multiple Portfolio Roadmaps Matter?
When one portfolio needs to appear in more than one grouping, recreating it for each grouping splits the same work into unrelated records. Multiple roadmaps with shared portfolios avoid that split.

How Do I Manage Multiple Portfolio Roadmaps?
Create an Additional Roadmap
- Go to Portfolios and Projects → Portfolio from the left navigation panel.
- Switch to the Portfolio Roadmaps tab.
- Click + Create Roadmap.
- In the side panel, enter the roadmap name and set the visibility.
- Click Create.
Add Portfolios to a Roadmap
- On the roadmap, click + Create Portfolio.
- Enter Portfolio Name, Template, Date, Owner, Status, and Visibility. To start from a template, click Create From Template in the top right corner and select one.
- Click Create.
- On the roadmap, click + Add Portfolios.
- Select the portfolio from the dropdown list.
- Click Add.
Review the Roadmaps a Portfolio Belongs To
- Click into the portfolio to open its detail page.
- Open the Roadmaps tab.
- Click any roadmap name in the list.
What Happens When You Manage Multiple Portfolio Roadmaps?

What Needs to Be Enabled Before You Can Use Portfolio Roadmaps?
Portfolio Roadmaps only appear in the left navigation when a Super User turns them on. After PPM is enabled, the Super User clicks Customize next to Portfolios and Projects, enables Portfolio Roadmaps under Portfolios, and clicks Done.
If you cannot find the Portfolio Roadmaps tab, this navigation setting is the first thing to check with your Super User.
What Are the Best Practices for Managing Multiple Portfolio Roadmaps?
- Name each roadmap after the grouping it represents, because the portfolio’s Roadmaps tab identifies roadmaps by name only.
- Check the + Add Portfolios dropdown before clicking + Create Portfolio, so the same work does not end up as two portfolios with separate check-ins and progress.
- Open a portfolio’s Roadmaps tab before adding it to another roadmap to confirm where it already appears.
- Choose roadmap visibility and portfolio visibility deliberately, since each is set in its own create panel.
- Use the same portfolio template for similar portfolios across roadmaps, so comparable portfolios share one structure.
