Data sync
What data syncs
SQL Query Results
Run custom SELECT queries against any table in your PostgreSQL database. The returned numeric value maps directly to Increase KPI, Decrease KPI, and Percentage KPI key result types in Profit.co.
Database Connections
Connect multiple PostgreSQL servers from a single Profit.co account. Each connection stores your host, port, database name, and credentials securely at the Business Level — accessible to all Super Users in your organisation.
Check-in Values
Every time a check-in is triggered on a linked key result, Profit.co re-runs your SQL query and pulls the current value from your database automatically — keeping OKR progress accurate without any manual input.
Why combine PostgreSQL with OKRs?
PostgreSQL stores the operational data that drives your business — user counts, transaction volumes, revenue figures, and service metrics. OKRs turn those numbers into strategic accountability. When you connect PostgreSQL to Profit.co, a SQL query becomes a live key result that updates automatically on every check-in, with no one touching a spreadsheet.
Getting started
Set up in 3 steps
No developer required. You’re live in under 10 minutes.
1
Enable in Settings
Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Connectors. Select the Business Level tab and click the PostgreSQL Manage button. Only Super Users can configure integrations — contact your Profit.co admin if you don’t see this option.
2
Connect your database credentials
Click Connect to PostgreSQL. Enter your Connection Name, host, port, database name, username, and password. Credentials are encrypted and stored securely at the Business Level, accessible to all Super Users in your account.
3
Map a SQL query to a Key Result
When creating a Key Result, select Automate Check-in and choose PostgreSQL from the connection dropdown. Enter the SQL query whose result you want to track — Profit.co runs this query on every check-in and updates your OKR automatically.
Enterprise grade security
Keep your company’s data secure and compliant with industry-leading security standards and certifications.
Have questions?
We got answers.
Yes. The PostgreSQL integration is built directly into the Profit.co platform. You connect using your database host, port, database name, username, and password — no third-party middleware or ETL tools are required.
Yes. Once connected, you can select “Automate Check-in” on any Key Result, choose PostgreSQL from the connection dropdown, and enter the SQL query you want to run. Profit.co re-executes the query on every check-in and updates the key result value automatically.
Profit.co executes a SELECT query you define and reads the returned numeric value. You can query any table or view in your PostgreSQL database. The value is then applied to whichever key result type you have selected — Increase KPI, Decrease KPI, or Percentage KPI.
The PostgreSQL integration supports three key result types: Increase KPI, Decrease KPI, and Percentage tracked KPI. These cover the majority of OKR tracking scenarios, including revenue targets, defect reduction goals, and completion rate metrics.
The PostgreSQL integration is included in all Profit.co paid plans. You can explore the integration during your free 30 days trial. No credit card is required to start.
No developer is required for the setup itself. You’ll need Super User access in Profit.co and your PostgreSQL connection credentials. The one exception is writing your SQL query — a data analyst or engineer typically handles this step, though many operations teams manage it directly.
Yes. The PostgreSQL integration is configured at the Business Level, which means the connection is shared across your Profit.co organisation. Once set up by a Super User, any team member can select it when automating a Key Result check-in.
Yes. Profit.co is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant. Your database credentials are encrypted in transit and at rest. Profit.co uses a read-only connection to execute SELECT queries — it does not write to or modify your PostgreSQL database. Review the full security overview at profit.co/data-security.
