How Do I Set Up Teams Meeting Transcript Access for Check-Ins?

Teams Transcript Access Setup is the one-time admin configuration that connects your Microsoft 365 tenant to Profit.co so Teams meeting transcripts can sync in and power check-ins. A Global Administrator or Teams Administrator completes it using a PowerShell script Profit.co provides.

What is Teams Transcript Access Setup?

Teams Transcript Access Setup is a one-time backend configuration that grants Profit.co permission to read meeting transcripts from a specific Microsoft 365 tenant. It runs through a PowerShell script Profit.co provides, and completing it is what makes transcript-based check-ins possible at all.

The setup authorizes Profit.co to read transcripts for every meeting organizer in your tenant in a single run. It still depends on transcription being turned on in Teams for each meeting; Profit.co cannot pull a transcript that was never generated.

Setup Requirements

Requirement Detail
Operating System Windows PC recommended; the Teams sign-in step runs only on Windows PowerShell
PowerShell Version PowerShell 7
Organizer License Organizers must be licensed, Teams-enabled users for their meetings to produce transcripts.

Why Teams Transcript Access Setup Matters

Without this setup, Profit.co has no permission to reach Teams transcripts at all, so meeting content can never reach a check-in no matter what was discussed. Completing it once opens transcript access for your organizer's meetings going forward, instead of requiring a manual export or copy-paste after every session.

Because the configuration lives at the tenant level, an admin runs it once for the whole tenant — covering every organizer — rather than every employee repeating it.

How It Works

Note

This setup must be completed by a Global Administrator or Teams Administrator of your Microsoft 365 tenant. Standard user accounts cannot grant admin consent or complete the Teams sign-in step.

Step 1: Gather Prerequisites

  • Confirm you're on a Windows PC with PowerShell 7 installed
  • PowerShell 7 - download here
  • Have your Global Admin sign-in ready
  • Have the Global Admin's email address on hand

Step 2: Download and Open the Script

  • Download setup-transcript-access.ps1 and save it to your Desktop
  • Open PowerShell 7
  • Run cd ~/Desktop to move into the folder

Step 3: Run the Setup Script

  • Run pwsh -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\setup-transcript-access.ps1
  • Resource tenant: enter your tenant, e.g. yourcompany.onmicrosoft.com

Step 4: Review and Grant Admin Consent

  • Review the printed summary and press Y to proceed
  • Copy the consent link the script prints into your browser
  • Sign in as Global Admin and click Accept

Step 5: Sign In to Teams

  • Open https://microsoft.com/devicelogin in a browser
  • Enter the code the script displays
  • Sign in using your admin account

Step 6: Confirm Completion

  • Wait for the script to print SETUP COMPLETE

Best Practices for Teams Transcript Access Setup

  • Run the setup once per tenant — it authorizes all organizers at the same time, so there's no need to repeat it for individual people.
  • Start on a Windows PC rather than switching mid-setup, since the Teams sign-in step fails on macOS or Linux.
  • Turn on transcription in Teams for meetings you want synced, since Profit.co only receives a transcript when one was actually recorded.
  • Build the 30-minute to 2-hour activation window into your rollout schedule, so you don't assume the setup failed if transcripts don't appear right away.
  • Have the Global Admin credentials and your tenant domain ready before starting, since the script prompts for the tenant and requires an admin sign-in mid-run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Do I need to run this setup separately for each meeting organizer?

No. The setup grants tenant-wide access in a single run, so every organizer in your tenant is covered at once. You don't repeat it per organizer.

Q2. Is this a one-time process or does it need to be repeated?

It's a one-time process for the entire tenant. Once "SETUP COMPLETE" appears and the activation windows pass, you don't need to rerun the script for that same organizer.

Q3. What if I don't have PowerShell 7 installed yet?

Download it from the link provided in the setup prerequisites before starting the script, since the script requires PowerShell 7 specifically.
