What is Initiative Progress by Period?
Initiative Progress by Period is a view inside the Strategy Roadmaps dashboard that shows how each initiative's progress breaks down by month, quarter, or year. It's available once you open a specific roadmap from the Strategy Roadmaps page.
Super Users and other users with roadmap access can also organize initiatives into customized themes and sub-themes within the same dashboard, so initiatives are grouped by row according to your own structure rather than a single fixed layout.
Why Does Initiative Progress by Period Matter?
Without this view, tracking how an initiative is progressing over a specific stretch of time means checking it separately instead of seeing it alongside the rest of the roadmap. Filtering the dashboard by month, quarter, or year keeps that comparison on one screen.
Organizing initiatives into custom themes and sub-themes also means the roadmap can reflect your own priorities, such as grouping initiatives by team or strategic pillar, instead of a single predefined row structure.

What Happens When You Use Initiative Progress by Period?
| Scenario | What Happens |
|---|---|
| You switch between Month, Quarter, or Year on the roadmap dashboard. | Profit.co displays each initiative's progress scoped to that specific period, without changing the initiative's actual progress value or status. |
| You create custom themes and sub-themes on the roadmap. | Profit.co organizes the initiatives in each row according to that structure. |
| You try to update an Initiative without access to it. | Profit.co doesn't let you make changes, since only users with access to that Initiative can update it from the dashboard. |
| You update an Initiative directly from the roadmap dashboard and click Update. | Profit.co saves the change to that Initiative's record. |
What Are the Best Practices for Initiative Progress by Period?
- Choose the period, month, quarter, or year, that matches the discussion you're preparing for, since the dashboard recalculates the progress view for whichever period you select.
- Set up custom themes and sub-themes before relying on the roadmap for regular reviews, since initiatives are grouped in rows according to that structure rather than a fixed default layout.
- Confirm you have access to an Initiative before trying to update it from the dashboard, since the Update option only works for Initiatives you're authorized to change.
- Make Initiative updates directly from the roadmap dashboard when you're already reviewing progress there, since it saves a separate trip to the Initiative to make the same change.
